Welcome to Brynygwin Country House & Cottages in Snowdonia.

The oldest and private part of the house is on the left in the first enlargeable picture.  Flat 2 (completed 1810) is shown on the right, while Flat 3 (added 1872) occupies a smaller bay and wing further off to the right.  It used to be one long family house - there were 6 children and Flat 3 was added on in anticipation of a 7th, at last a boy, but, alas, stillborn.  Now the house is divided vertically into three, the divisions coming where build-ons began so that nobody gets to be above or below anybody else.
Flats 2 and 3 have their own first-floor landing with their separate entrances facing each other.  Their spacious rooms are characterized by interesting windows and variously-shaped ceilings.  Both flats have central heating and open log fires.
The ground floor comprises passageways and store/boiler rooms which are useful for secure storage of bikes and other outdoor gear.

Flat 2 (first five pictures), with views onto the garden and to hills beyond, has ready bed-space for 11 (2 family rooms and a double twin), and is readily expandable to 14, or reducible to 2 using just the first floor bedroom. Its combi-boiler heats the radiators and gives instant and limitless hot water as well as mains pressure to the shower over the cast-iron bath. The kitchen and living room/diner are usefully interconnected for large number meals, enough cutlery and crockery being provided for a total booking.

Flat 3 (last three pictures) has, as well as its own kitchen and bathroom with electric shower over bath, one large light open-plan room with double-bed and bedroom furniture the round window end, two fire-side easy chairs, and convertible settee with large oak dining-table and chairs facing the tall arch-topped window that looks onto garden shrubs and through Scots pines to mountains across the valley.

If an extra bedroom is required, the twin-bedded Loft Bedroom is at the end of the line of cottages which are only separated from the house by a narrow pathway, so is close for use with either or both of the flats. For more see end of Cottages page.
